Hello November 2020!

Attention Tam’s Sunshine House families
[THANKSGIVING IS COMING!]

COVID-19 is still hanging around! Our brave faces
are now covered with a mask daily and we just keep
moving forward. It has been a long Summer and the
crisp Fall air is here.

Tams Sunshine House is still committed to helping
limit the effects of COVID-19. Please know that we
are keeping those affected by coronavirus (COVID-
19) in our thoughts while we closely watch the
evolving situation as it pushes into another season.
Please be mindful of traveling this holiday season as
we are making sure all of our plans are COVID safe.

The State of Michigan came out with a final
Grant which I am required to use the funds to
make COVID Enhancements which is why we
have been receiving UPS all last week. I placed
our orders from Kaplan and Lakeshore in
advance knowing that our funds are now in the
cue for payment.

Again, I am keeping my eyes open for any and
all grant funds that become available to enhance
our program and help our families in any way.

We will be closed the week of 11/23/20-11/28/2020

for the Thanksgiving Break! Stay Safe!

Tam –

Could you email me a copy of the receipt for the pressure washer? The handle broke and they said if I send a picture of the handle and a copy of the receipt, they would replace it under warranty…

Update to COVID 19 General Business Hours

Recently, Tams Sunshine House was asked to explain the decision regarding the changes to the general business hours of operation. Many factors go into such a decision like any other business. It is never easy to make decisions that affect others, such as the decision to stop providing extend service hours for several families. All of the families were affected by the decision to change the business hours in January and February in 2020.

The general hours of operation for the childcare has not changed since March 1, 2020 5am to 9 pm until COVID 19 hit on March 15, 2020 when Governor Whitmer ordered all childcares to close or be listed Essential. Since that date Tams Sunshine House has been working under Executive Orders only and following all the new recommendations and requirements set for by those Executive Orders.

As of May 31, 2020, Tams Sunshine House continues to operate under Executive Orders as issued by the Governor Whitmer.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

As many Michigan families are able to Stay Safe and Stay Home many families still need to go out into our communities as "essential workers". Tams Sunshine House wants to remind families if you are in need of child care we are a telephone call away from reliable child care services. We have everyone of you in our thoughts and prays every day. Thank you for all that you do for our communities.

Screening Policy

Attention Parents:

Due to the level of potential exposure to COVID-19 that because we all have been deemed “Essential Workers”; MDHHS has requested that all child cares limit the amount of additional exposure to the facilities. One way we have chosen to implement this is by allowing parents into the entry way porch but not into the second house door to the main facility without screening. You will be meant and greeted at that door and your child’s temperature taken to help evaluate their health and yours. Once your child’s health has been deemed within the MDHHS standards you may then leave for the day. If you child has any of the following they will not be admitted to care for the day and until they are clear of any symptoms below: This will be strictly enforced~

The screenings criteria includes:

· Symptoms of a respiratory infection,

· such as fever of 100.1 degrees Fahrenheit or higher,

· severe cough and/or shortness of breath unrelated to a chronic condition.

· Visual signs runny nose, tiredness, or any visual signs of distress

“Dr. London of the Kent County Health Department said people with a fever would not be allowed to enter a childcare facility until they have been fever-free for 72 hours without the use of medications, seven days have passed since the onset of severe coughing and/or breathing difficulties, and symptoms have improved.” (WWMT 3).

· Tams Sunshine House will now be using Dr. London’s recommendations throughout the remainder of this outbreak. Our policy on Temperature remains the same 100.1 or greater is not permitted.

· We ask that parents enter onto our porch and get their child ready to come into the program

· We will take a quick forehead temperature to verify that the child is fever-free.

· We ask that parents do not enter into the main house without having been screened themselves. The house screen door will be locked for everyone safety. If this is an issue, please speak with Ms. Tam

Thank you for your help,

Ms. Tam
